The Emperor Charles V bridge along the Sint Antoniuskaai and the river Lieve in the surroundings of the Prinsenhof quarter in Ghent (Gent), Belgium. The statues in front are from the hand of Walter de Buck (13 July 1934 – 21 December 2014). Buck was a Flemish folk singer, sculptor and father of the Gentse Feesten, a Belgian singer, and the founder of the modern Gentse Feesten. In 1984 De Buck retired from Trefpunt cafe to focus on his sculpture work. De Buck, who suffered from early stage Alzheimer, died on 21 December 2014 in Ghent from the effects of esophageal cancer.

De Buck is also responsible for much of Ghent’s public artworks, including a totem-like sculpture in honour of 19th-century folk singer Karel Waeri in Bij Sint-Jacobs square and the Morisco dancers, perched on a rooftop between Sint-Baaf’s cathedral and Sint-Niklaas church.
