Carshalton Athletic v Dartford. Dartford win 2:3 and progress to the next round, against Ebbsfleet. The evening got off to an eventful start when the coach broke down at Purley, some 7 miles from the Robin's ground. After unsuccessful attempts by the driver to fix the problem, the Co-Chairman agreed that we needed to get six 6-seater hire cars to get everyone there in time for the game. A fleet of 5 turned up, almost everyone got on, and the vehicles did a synchronized 180 degree turn in the road. The last vehicle turned up shortly, and all got to the ground in reasonable time. A replacement coach was waiting for us after the match.
The match was equally exciting. Both teams had to substitute goalkeepers, Dartford down to 10 players before half-time, and Dartford were 2:1 down at the half time break, but came back to score 2 goals for a 2:3 win. For some odd reason the FA Youth Cup site has the result reversed, which they will hopefully resolve ASAP.
