22 September 2026. Dartford 2 (Lorenzo Duncan 50', Louie Atkins 81') Ramsgate 0 in the first round of the Kent Senior cup.
A young, exciting Dartford side did manager Ben Greenhalgh proud as Dartford won 2-0 against Ramsgate to book themselves a place in the next round of the Kent Senior Cup where Darts host Bromley FC. It was a total of 10 changes for the side, with George Whitefield the only player from the starting 11 against Hayes & Yeading in the FA Cup on Saturday. Greenhalgh bought in a number of academy players, who showed no fear when given their opportunity.
An entertaining game, with Ramsgate also fielding a young team, started with a host of chances with the best one of note for Louie Atkins, whose near post effort came crashing off the base of the post. Ramsgate nearly scored an audacious effort through Tom Clifford, whose 35-40 yard strike had Carter Sullivan scrambling as the ball bounced off the top of the crossbar. The first goal came at the start of the second half as some neat attacking play down the right hand side culminated in a low ball into the box and found Lorenzo Duncan, who controlled superbly, before turning home. It was his first competitive goal for Dartford since signing from Fisher in the summer. Ramsgate then thought they had an equaliser when Solomon Oguwomoju tapped into an empty net at the back post, only for the linesman to deny him for offside. The second goal came from a brotherly partnership as a free kick from the left hand side crossed in by Richie Atkins, found his brother Louie Atkins who tapped the ball in to extend Dartford’s lead and ultimately send Ramsgate out of the Kent Senior Cup.
Scott Wagstaff and Brandon Davey pulled the strings in midfield, with the back three strong throughout. But it was academy player Maybin Calvert who took the player of the match award with an eye-catching display on the wing. Dartford’s cup run goes on, with a trip to Leiston next up on Saturday in the FA Trophy as they look to continue their positive cup form.
