16 September 2017. Dartford win 3:1, 3 goal by Elliot Bradbrook, conceded one OG.

Dartford kicked off their FA cup run in style with a standout performance from captain Elliot Bradbrook in a 3-1 against Barking at Princes Park. The Darts were in good form, moving top of the National League South following back to back victories when they were drawn against Bostik North new boys Barking. The visitors were also in good form with their own back to back wins and arrived looking to cause an upset.

It was Barking who made the perfect start when a whipped low found Alfie Pavey who couldn’t help but turn the ball into his own net. Barking were looking the more confident side, spreading the play well, but as Dartford settled into the tie they began to see more of the visitor’s penalty area.
Buoyed by their fast start, Barking’s began spreading the passing play but after the initial shock, the Darts slowly grew into the game and begin to fashion some chances of their own.

A through ball on the top freed Andy Pugh who was then brought down by Ollie Bowles rushing off his line for a Dartford penalty.
The skipper stepped up to draw his side level and duly thundered the first of his two penalties in off the underside of the bar.
Barking didn’t roll over however, and on the half hour mark almost got themselves back in front when Jay Knight teed up Alan Taylor on the edge of the box but Bonner threw himself in the way to block. Free-scoring Darts once again showed their clinical side to take the lead when a goalmouth scramble ended with Bowles only managing to turn the ball into the path of Bradbrook, who was on hand to loop a shot for his second. Barking looked to make a similar fast start in the second forty-five but Knight could only direct his header over the bar from Taylor’s cross. Any hope of Barking equalising was extinguished when Dartford were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon for a cynical trip on Ryan Hayes.
Bradbrook made no mistake to complete his hat trick as he stepped up and completely flat-footed Bowles by sending his second penalty high into the top corner.
Barking weren’t quite ready to throw in the towel in search of progression in the competition and twice should have halved the score line. First a counter attack saw Dan Gilchrist put Goldy Capella through on goal before some excellent defending from Keaton Wood denied him. Then Capela had his side’s best chance of the second half when Taylor squared the ball to him on the edge of the six-yard box and Deren Ibrahim somehow tipped his effort over the bar to see the Darts safely through into the next round.
