Pictures of Margate, Kent. Title of a debut album by The Delays, 2003, from Southampton. Have that album in my collection. Title sums up Margate for me.
Like Brighton and Southend, Margate was infamous for gang violence between mods and rockers in the 1960s, and mods and skinheads in the 1980s. I am old enough to recall the days of mods and rockers, but young enough not to have been able to go there when Dreamland was at its peak and regular fights broke out.

The Turner Contemporary art gallery occupies a prominent position next to the harbour. The Thanet Offshore Wind Project, completed in 2010, is visible from the seafront.
