BHS dies, Morleys appears. Morleys group is named after the original store that opened in Brixton, south London as Morley & Lanceley. Morleys is a member of the Solihull-based Associated Independent Stores buying group, the supplier of non-food goods to 350 companies with about 600 small and medium-sized independent outlets with textile and other non-food goods. In the year to January 2014 group profit was 5.6 million on turnover was £90.6 million.
Around 2000/2002 Philip Green paid £200m for British Home Stores, and rebrands it BHS. Around 2005 BHS becomes part of Arcadia after Sir Phillip pays £840m for the clothing chain. He makes £164.5m from dividends. In 2005, Sir Philip’s wife Tina Green, who resides in Monaco, receives a £1.2bn dividend.
